About The Penn(e)y's of Tack's Beach, Placentia Bay, NL
Please sign in to see more.
I started this tree some time ago, researching the Penn(e)y's of Tack's Beach, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Tack's Beach was a community that was resettled (abandoned) in the mid 1960's. My family resettled from there to Fortune, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland in 1965. The English community of Tack's Beach began in the mid 1800's

My research of church and census records at the Newfoundland Archives and information from family members reveal that my Great-grandfather (James Penney) from Greens Harbour, Trinity Bay married a Mary Ann Hynes from Tack's Beach. They had three sons and a daughter. Their children were born in Tack's Beach in the 1880's. That was as far back my research had taken me.

I had my tree information posted on the internet for some years looking for information on my Grand-father James Penney. Then in October, 2004 I received an email from Betty(Cumby)Weir (third cousin) making the connection with James Penney. His Grand-father (William Penney) came from Dorset, England to Carbonear, Newfoundland in the early 1800's.

My Family tree also contains information about the following branches: The Hynes's of Tack's Beach;
 The Senior's of Port Elizabeth (Flat Islands), Placentia Bay, Newfoundland; The Simms's of Gaultois and Muddy Hole, Newfoundland;
 The Cumby's & Penney's of Greens Harbour;
 The Kavanagh's and Coles of St. John's, Newfoundland; plus many more family names in the various branches of the tree - see surname list.
